Prof. Naz Zeynep Atay received her B.S. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Kent in the UK. She joined the Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Bogazici University in 1987 where she became a full professor in 2000. She has worked as Registrar, Director of the Summer Term Office, Dean of Student Affairs, and Director of the School of Foreign Languages.

Cansu Akan is an EFL teacher, a test writer, a CELTA trainer, and an online tutor. She’s been working as a test writer at the Bogaziçi University Testing Office since 2013, and has taught English to adults for 10 years at various levels. She started her B.A. in English Language and Literature at Ege University, İzmir, and graduated from Universidad de Oviedo in Spain. Following graduation, she completed the CELTA and DELTA teaching qualifications, as well as the IH World e-moderating course. A Cambridge ESOL examiner, she designed syllabus and materials for the Cambridge ESOL courses, and wrote supplementary booklets for various levels. She’s interested in classroom practices, testing and assessment, and curriculum development.

Sinem Yılmaz Demir is an English Language instructor at Bogazici University School of Foreign Languages (SFL). She has worked as an instructor and academic coordinator at SFL since 2008. She graduated from the ELT department at Marmara University in 2006 and she earned her MA degree at the Bogazici University Foreign Languages Education Department in 2010 with her thesis research focused on learner autonomy and the European Language Portfolio. She has presented several papers in various conferences in Turkey and abroad. Her research interests relate to learner autonomy, using the CEFR and ELP, and language learning technologies.

Pınar Demirci graduated from Gazi University’s English Language Teaching Department, and received her MA degree from Hacettepe University in 2010. She has been actively teaching English in different universities for 9 years. She has worked as a teacher and academic coordinator at Boğaziçi University School of Foreign Languages. Her interests include written corrective feedback, cognitive linguistics and more recently, medicinal and aromatic plants.

Ahu Ersözlü received her BA and MA degrees from Hacettepe University’s English Language and Literature program. She has worked as an EFL teacher, teacher trainer, Curriculum Committee member and coordinator, academic coordinator, and assistant director at various universities for twenty+ years since she first received her BA in 1994. She has been working at Boğaziçi University SFL for the past fourteen years. Her interests include professional development and management in ELT as well as fantasy literature with a special focus on the work of J. R. R. Tolkien.

Peter Boyce's background in philosophy and fine arts sparked his interest in semiotics and linguistics and from there lead him to language instruction. This is his fifth year working as an English instructor in Istanbul where he has recently joined the Boğaziçi prep team of instructors. His professional interests center around adult language acquisition habits and integrating cross-cultural dialog into language learning. He also makes weavings and is learning to sew men's wear.

Oya Aslı Denison is an EFL teacher, and a test writer. She’s been working as a test writer at the Bogaziçi University SFL Testing Office since 2013, and has taught English to adults for 9 years at various levels. She received her BA degree from Boğaziçi University’s Western Languages and Literatures department. In 2016, she completed the CELTA teaching qualification. She’s interested in testing and assessment.

Natalie is a recent addition to the Preparatory School at Boğaziçi University. She spent 11 years in France both teaching English and working as a freelance journalist, holds degrees in Journalism and Literature, and is CELTA-certified. She made the jump to Turkey just over a year ago in efforts to broaden her ELT horizons and experience teaching in a new context and culture. Her professional interests lie in improving students’ writing skills through interactive workshops.

Fundagül İnci received her BA and MA degrees from Boğaziçi University’s Foreign Language Education Department, with her MA thesis on second language acquisition of English articles. After working as a research assistant at İstanbul Technical University School of Foreign languages, she started to work as an English language instructor at Bogazici University’s School of Foreign Languages (SFL) in 2008. She has been working as a test writer at the Boğaziçi University SFL Testing Office since 2013. In 2016, she completed the CELTA teaching qualifications. Her research interests include first and second language acquisition, syntax and bilingualism.

Duygu Umutlu is an English Language Instructor at the Preparatory School at Boğaziçi University, and has been teaching English for 9 years. She graduated from Boğaziçi University Foreign Language Education Department. She is currently an MA student in the Educational Technology department of BU. She has been developing computer-based activities and educational software for two years. Her research interests are mobile assisted language learning (MALL), flipped classrooms and computer-assisted language learning (CALL).
